The other day I mentioned to one of my coworkers that I was going to be starting up a new blog in the new year.  Naturally the question came up: what are you going to blog about?  I wasn’t quite sure.  I knew I wanted a place to put my thoughts out there, and that I wasn’t quite satisfied with doing it 140 characters at a time.  People tend to frown on essay-length Twitter rants, anyways.

So after thinking long and hard about it, here’s what I aim to get out of this:

1. I want a place where I can gather ideas for work, without needing to immediately have an action plan.  I feel like I’ve got a lot of good ideas, but I never have the time to turn those ideas into anything more than spitballing.  This will be my whiteboard to coalesce those ideas into something useful.
2. I want a place where I can babble about games without being the nerdiest person in the room.   Even though I generally am at all times.  To put it in perspective, I’m the guy at work with the dragon wallpaper.  That’s right; I’m that guy.
3. I’ve never been in great shape, but in the last year I let myself get fat.  Again.  Since heart problems run in my family, it’s starting to get urgent that I not just lose my gut, but also get myself healthy. I want somewhere to track my progress, and talk about diet and exercise.
4. There will be pictures of babby.  And stories.  Fair warning.
